Nudges are friendly, proactive prompts shown near your chat bubble to invite shoppers to start a conversation. The AI Shopping Assistant comes with seven ready-made Smart Nudges you can toggle on or off from the Nudges screen. Their wording is pre-set, so they're ready to use right away.
Here are the Smart Nudges available, and when each one appears:
- Welcome — greets first-time visitors to your store.
- Welcome Back — greets returning visitors.
- Product Questions — appears on a product page to offer help with that specific product (sizing, details, availability). To avoid repetition, it shows at most once per product in a session; if the shopper moves to a different product, it can appear again for that one.
- Exit Intent — appears when a shopper looks like they're about to leave. On desktop, when the cursor moves toward the edge of the page; on mobile, on a quick scroll back up.
- Cart Booster — appears when a shopper's cart is getting full, to encourage checkout. It can include a discount incentive — but only a discount you've already created in your Shopify admin. The assistant is read-only on discounts; it never creates new codes, so set the discount up in Shopify first if you want one offered.
- Low Stock Urgency — appears when a product the shopper is viewing has limited stock availability.
- Abandoned Cart — appears when a returning shopper still has items in their cart from a previous visit.
All of these are Smart Nudges. Manual Nudges (which you'd write yourself) are coming later and aren't available yet.
