⚠️ Beginning December 4, 2024, Meta has a new policy for how Instagram connects, called an API, to all 3rd party app integrations (like POWR Social feed). They will require you to have an Instagram Business or Creator account instead of a personal account.
This is a good change because a Business or Creator account comes with many benefits to you as a professional, such as:
- Managing your Instagram account from a computer
- Getting access to insights about your followers and account or post-performance
- Creating promotions to help reach more people
- Adding a contact button to your profile
🚨 Not sure if you have a Business or Creator account? It's easy -- from your user profile screen, look for 'Professional dashboard.' You don't need to change anything on Instagram if you can see it.
If you can't see it, please follow these instructions to switch your personal account to a business account. Please note that it's mandatory to use the mobile app. Otherwise, it could cause issues with your app.
How to Create an Instagram Business or Creator Account
- Using the mobile app, click on the 3 bars in the top right
- Scroll until you see 'For professionals' and tap 'Account type and tools'
- Tap 'Switch to professional account'
- Tap 'Continue' until you reach 'What best describes you?' and select one.
- Toggle on 'Display on profile' if you wish
- Click 'Done'
- Confirm the change by clicking 'OK'
How to Connect your Facebook Page and Instagram Account
- Login to your Facebook Account
- Click Pages in the left menu
- Click Page settings in the bottom left
- Click Instagram in the left column, then click Connect Account
- Enter your Instagram username and password and click Login

*Please note this requires a professional Instagram account (Creator or Business).
You are now ready to use POWR Social Feed.
Connect Instagram in POWR Social Feed
- Go back to POWR Social Feed
- Click Continue with Facebook and log in to Facebook
You’ll then be able to choose which Instagram Business or Creator account you would like to use with POWR Social Feed:
*Please note that only one Instagram account can be displayed. If you select multiple, only the first will be displayed.
- Choose which connected Facebook Pages you’d like to use with POWR Social Feed:
Then, review the permissions. These are required in order for POWR to access the content on your Instagram account and post it in your Social Feed:
- Click Done
You’ll now be connected to Instagram, and you can easily disconnect your account by clicking Disconnect in the settings panel in the POWR Editor:
What if you already have a connected account to Social Feed, and it's not Business or Creator?
No worries. In such cases, you would just need to re-connect your account to the POWR Social Feed app, and during the authorization flow, Instagram will ask if you would like to switch your account to Business or Creator type.
- Click change on Professional account
- Choose Business or Creator type
- Select Category
- Click Done
- Allow permissions and Click Allow
Please check the screenshots below on how to do this
*Please note that in accordance with Instagram's rules, your permission will expire after 90 days. We will send you an email to restore access once the 90 days have expired.

I received an email today saying I need to verify permissions to continue displaying new content in my feed, but it's not obvious how to do that. I click the Verify Permissions button in the email but it just takes me to my dashboard. There's no badges or obvious buttons to direct me. When I click on the "..." on my instagram feed, none of the 7 options available seems to have anything to do with account or access management. And when I open up the Instagram feed and click on my one feed, the only controls are "disconnect", a max # of posts slider and a Done button.
How do I verify permissions? do I have to disconnect the feed and re-create it?
It's very frustrating. I expected that after I logged in, all i'd have to do is press a button to renew my permissions for another 90 days. But there's just zero on-screen guidance.
Hi Dave, Instagram is requiring users to reconnect their feeds every 90 days, So you need to reconnect your Instagram feed. (Disconnect and connect it again)
