If you're seeing a CAPTCHA on your POWR form even though the Require CAPTCHA setting is turned off, don't worry—this is expected behavior.
POWR includes an automatic anti-spam system that may temporarily display a CAPTCHA when it detects activity that appears similar to automated or repeated submissions.
This helps protect your form from spam while minimizing interruptions for legitimate visitors.

Why CAPTCHA Appears Automatically
Even if you've disabled the Require CAPTCHA option in your form settings, POWR may still display a CAPTCHA in certain situations.
This is part of our built-in spam protection system, which automatically activates when suspicious activity is detected.
The goal is to prevent bots and automated submissions while allowing genuine visitors to complete your form without interruption.
What Triggers the Automatic CAPTCHA?
The automatic CAPTCHA may appear when our system detects behavior such as:
- Multiple submissions from the same IP address
- Repeated form submissions from the same browser
- Frequent page refreshes followed by additional submissions
- Activity that resembles automated or bot behavior
These checks help reduce spam without requiring CAPTCHA for every visitor.
Will My Visitors See the CAPTCHA?
In most cases, NO.
The automatic CAPTCHA is designed to appear only when suspicious or repeated activity is detected.
For example, you may see it while:
- Testing your form multiple times
- Refreshing the page repeatedly
- Submitting several test responses from the same device
Your customers, who typically submit the form only once, usually won't encounter the CAPTCHA.
If you'd like to verify this yourself, try opening your form in an incognito/private browsing window or on a different device. The CAPTCHA often won't appear because the browsing session is treated as new.
How to Enable CAPTCHA for Every Submission
If you'd prefer every visitor to complete a CAPTCHA before submitting the form, you can enable it manually.
- Open your form in the POWR Editor.
- Navigate to the Settings tab.
- Locate the CAPTCHA option underneath the Integrations section.
- Enable the setting and publish your updated form to save your changes.
With this setting enabled, every form submission will require CAPTCHA verification, regardless of visitor behavior.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the automatic CAPTCHA a bug?
No. It's an intentional security feature designed to protect your form from spam and automated submissions.
Can I completely disable the automatic CAPTCHA?
No. The automatic CAPTCHA is part of POWR's built-in anti-spam protection and cannot be disabled.
However, under normal usage, most visitors will never see it.
Why do I keep seeing the CAPTCHA while testing?
Repeated testing from the same browser or IP address can trigger the anti-spam system. This is expected behavior and does not necessarily reflect what your website visitors will experience.
