Yes, POWR has HIPAA-compliant forms available, but they are separate from our main Form Builder app.
Many 100% HIPAA-compliant form templates are available that can be easily customizable in minutes.
Is my business required to be HIPAA-compliant?
You must be HIPAA compliant if your business handles any protected health information (PHI), such as patient records, insurance information, or medical histories.
This applies to independent practitioners, small clinics, and any entity that transmits or stores PHI electronically. Ensuring compliance is crucial to avoid legal penalties and protect patients' privacy and trust.
According to HHS.gov, it applies to any "covered entity" that transmits health information through any communication method.
This includes:
- Health plans - health insurance companies, HMOs
- Healthcare providers - doctors, clinics, psychologists, chiropractors, dentists, nursing homes, pharmacies
- Healthcare clearinghouses - organizations that receive health data and translate it into a different format.
HIPAA also applies to many others who have access to, need to use or disclose private health information (PHI), such as data analysts, claim processors, providers of administrative services, quality assurance, billing, payment, and collections services, accountants, consultants, attorneys, data storage firms, and data management companies.
