How to Upload a CSV to Bulk Create Multiple Contacts

This guide will help you use POWR's Bulk Create/Upload Contacts feature to add multiple contacts to your account at once.

Getting Started

Option 1: Download Our CSV Template

The easiest way to get started is to download our CSV template and edit it using your preferred spreadsheet application.

Option 2: Use Google Sheets Template

  1. Make a copy of our Google Sheets template
  2. Add your contact information in the appropriate columns
  3. When ready to import, go to the File menu
  4. Select Download → Comma Separated Values (.csv)
  5. Save the file to your computer

Uploading Your CSV File

  1. Navigate to the Contacts section in your POWR dashboard
  2. Click the Bulk Create Contacts button
  3. Drag and drop your CSV file into the upload area or click Choose file to select it
  4. Wait for the upload and processing to complete
  5. You'll see a confirmation message with details about imported contacts

CSV File Requirements

To successfully import your contacts, your CSV file must follow these guidelines:

  • All columns must exist in your CSV file, even if some cells remain empty
  • Email is the only required field - all other fields can be left blank
  • Contacts with email addresses that already exist in your database will be skipped
  • Tags should be comma-separated within quotes (e.g., "tag1, tag2, tag3")
  • Email and Phone Opt-ins should be either "true" or "false"

Required CSV Columns

Your CSV file must include these columns:

  • email
  • first_name
  • last_name
  • phone
  • street_address
  • street_address_2
  • city
  • state
  • zip_code
  • country
  • notes
  • tags
  • email_opt_in
  • phone_opt_in

Tips for Success

  • Ensure all email addresses are correctly formatted
  • Make sure your CSV file uses UTF-8 encoding
  • Remember that only contacts with unique email addresses will be imported

If you encounter any issues during the upload process, verify that your CSV file follows all the requirements listed above.
