The EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — also known as DSGVO — is a data privacy law that came into effect on May 25, 2018. If you're using POWR apps to collect personal data from users in the EU, it’s important to ensure your forms are GDPR-compliant.
This article will show you how to use POWR’s GDPR Compliance Element to handle email opt-ins and data protection responsibly.

What GDPR Means for POWR Users
⭐️ POWR.io Website Users
POWR is compliant with GDPR and has updated its Terms of Use and Privacy Policy accordingly. To understand how GDPR may affect how you are using our apps, please familiarize yourself with these changes.

⭐️ POWR App Users
POWR acts as a Data Controller in its direct relationship with you as a customer when it comes to the information you give us directly (such as your sign up information, billing information etc.). If you are collecting information from your own customers (e.g. through a contact form, order form, etc.) you are acting as a Data Controller also. In this respect POWR and you, the app creator, are considered as separate and independent Data Controllers under EU law. You are therefore responsible for the personal information you process while using POWR’s services.
The service POWR provides to you is as a Data Processor. We process and store information on your behalf. It is your responsibility to ensure that the ways in which you use and protect the data collected from internet users in the EU are compliant with GDPR, including getting explicit consent from users. For the full regulation text, read more here.

Troubleshooting Checkbox Formatting
Are your GDPR checkbox labels appearing on a separate line from the checkboxes? Here's how to fix it:
-
In your App Settings, go to Design > Advanced.
-
Paste the following CSS into the Custom CSS section:
-
Save your settings.
This will align the checkbox labels correctly on the same line.
FAQs
Q: Why aren’t users who check the GDPR box receiving autoresponder emails?
A: That’s expected. Users must explicitly opt in to receive emails. If they only agree to your terms without checking the email permission box, POWR automatically prevents autoresponders from being sent to them.
Q: Can I use this element on all POWR forms?
A: Yes, as long as you're on a Premium or higher plan.
Conclusion
Using POWR’s GDPR Compliance Element ensures you're taking the right steps to collect data responsibly from your EU users. It’s a simple but powerful way to align your forms with data protection laws.

Hello POWR-Team,
I have a question regarding your Form Builder: When a user fills out a contact form, is personal data stored on servers outside the EU?
I am looking forward to your answer!
Best regards,
Lars
