Working on editing your Nudge app for Shopify and need more information to understand the display controls? You came to the right place!
We also have an introduction to the Nudge you can see, too.
How Nudge Display Works
The Nudge Display tab shows your options for displaying your nudge on your Shopify store. Depending on the type of urgency you want to create will determine which of these display controls you will use.
The Nudge app uses your real-time Shopify product inventory data through variables (as seen in curly braces below) for online shoppers to see what products you have that are trending, almost out of stock, or getting lots of visibility!
Below, we will look at each and explain why and how to use each.
*NOTE: The number you choose for any option we discuss will determine when and if the nudge will display.
Limited Stock Display
Use this display to create urgency about the possibility of an item being sold out. If a shopper lands on your site and gets a Nudge that says “Only 3 left in stock”, chances are higher that they purchase.
For example, if you want your nudge to display when you have 5 items remaining, it will NOT show if you have 6 or more in stock.
Trending Product Display
This choice also creates FOMO by showing off products that are flying off the shelf! Once connected to your Shopify product data, it will collect your total number of orders over a two-week period. Typically, you would set this to a higher number.
For example, if this were set to 2, your nudge would display once 3 items were sold, and that would not really create the urgency you are looking for, right?
High Visibility Display
This display control is affected by the sum of orders completed, orders started but not completed, and abandoned orders over a 2-day period.
Highlighting this increased visibility and overall interest in a product is just another measure of creating urgency.
Show Nudge After
This control determines when your nudge will appear (assuming they have met your set conditions) after a shopper arrives at your storefront.
If it is set to 5 seconds, your nudge will appear after 5 seconds. How long it will stay visible is controlled under ‘Nudge stays visible for.’
You can choose from 10, 30, or 60 seconds, or you can choose to have it remain on screen. However, the person can still close the nudge manually unless you toggle on the ‘Prevent nudge from closing’ slider.
Prevent Nudge From Closing
Once a site visitor has met your original display conditions and the nudge is visible, you can toggle this on, and the nudge will remain on the screen for the full duration you have set.
It is a best practice to be mindful and respectful to provide a positive user experience, so this function would be best used to communicate important information that you must have each site visitor see.
And there you have it. Following the procedure for accurately setting your nudge display controls will ensure you promote the products you need to move while providing an excellent experience for your visitors.
